Saudi Arabia head coach Roberto Mancini was spotted heading down the tunnel midway through his side's penalty shootout loss to South Korea.

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    The former Manchester City boss led the Saudi side at the Asian Cup, however, their campaign ended in the round of 16 as they lost 4-2 on penalties against Son Heung-Min and co.

    After Saudi Arabia missed two penalties, Hwang Hee-Chan had the chance to score the winning penalty, however, Mancini was seen heading down the tunnel before the winning spot kick was even taken.

    It was heartbreak for Saudi as they led until the ninth minute of injury time before Cho Gue-Sung equalised and sent the game to extra-time. After a goalless additional 30 minutes, the two sides headed into the shootout and Mancini's side had Sami Al-Najei and Abdulrahman Ghareeb's penalties saved by Jo Hyeon-Woo. The saves were enough for South Korea as they stayed clinical and scored all their penalties, advancing through to the next round.

    The Italian took over from Herve Renard, who led the side in the 2022 World Cup, only a few months ago. Now, a lot of questions will certainly be raised over the 59-year-old's actions at the end of a hard-fought game.
